A MATTER OF TIME
UK Tour Sept 15th-Nov 3rd
UK Tour Sept 15th-Nov 3rd
Chantry Dance presents a matter of time - a mesmerising triple bill exploring our relationship with time.
a matter of time has been created by award-winning producers and choreographers Rae Piper and Paul Chantry in collaboration with innovative director-choreographer Kristian Cunningham.
GHOST DANCES combines contemporary dance and puppetry with Nicholas Maw's eponymous 1988 suite. A woman journeys through the past, present and future where the allusive 'ghosts' of the title are her fractured dreams and memories. She learns to reconcile the uncertainty of the future with the lessons of the past to fully live the present moment – a struggle we’re all familiar with.
ARIADNE’S LAMENT is a dance setting of an extract from Roman poet Catullus' carmen 64, where Ariadne laments her abandonment by Theseus and faces a desolate future. The work considers how certain human situations remain relevant and relatable no matter when they occur.
IN TIME OF DAFFODILS is danced to Chanticleer's remarkable musical setting of ee cummings' poem of the same name. This beautiful, evocative piece is a reminder of the simple things in life and that life is about journeys not destinations - the goal of living is to grow.
“What a beautiful, strong and sensitive show. Totally moved.”
"The whole story, staging, costumes, choreography and performance was electrifying and we were glued to our seats."
"Mesmerising, breath-taking & beautiful"
